THE NEED FOR LEADERSHIP
The social, financial, and psychological impact of Sri Lanka’s 26-year-long civil war still affects everyday life, from psycho-social issues to debt to job scarcity.
Mental health services are almost non-existent, leaving unaddressed issues of sexual and gender-based violence, child protection, and discrimination
The education system, fixated on tuition and exams, dampens the emotional well-being of children and adolescents
Parents, teachers, and administrators fail to value the benefits of children playing sports and enjoying the outdoors
Many youth lack support and increasingly turn to addictive outlets, including alcohol, smoking, drugs, social media, and online gaming.
